About This Calculator

  • 2026–27 teacher pay reference points apply from September 2026.
  • TPS contribution tiers use the annual salary rate for the eligible employment rather than full-time equivalent pay.
  • Enter the actual annual TLR being paid; it is not automatically pro-rated by employment percentage.
  • Results are annualised estimates and can differ from individual payroll calculations.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes. This calculator uses the current 2026–27 England advisory reference points for M1–M6 and U1–U3, together with the April 2026 tax, National Insurance, Teachers’ Pension and student-loan thresholds.

The salary is reduced to your actual employment percentage first. The Teachers’ Pension contribution tier is then selected using the annual salary rate for that eligible employment, rather than the full-time equivalent salary.

Enter the actual annual TLR amount that you will be paid. From September 2026 TLR1 and TLR2 values are determined by the proportion of the responsibility undertaken, so this calculator does not automatically pro-rate the TLR again by your employment percentage.

Yes. Enter your tax code and select the relevant student-loan plan. Scottish S-prefixed and W1/M1/X emergency codes are not modelled because they require different or pay-period-specific tax calculations.

The calculator is an annualised planning estimate using 2026–27 rates. Actual payroll can differ because PAYE, National Insurance and student-loan deductions are calculated by pay period and can be affected by payroll timing and individual tax-code adjustments.
