From 6 April 2028, the normal minimum pension age rises from 55 to 57. If you reach 55 before this date, you may retain a right to take benefits, but most members with a CARE pension will be required to wait until 57 if they retire after the 2028 deadline.
If you are an active member, your employer's consent is required. However, under TPS rules, this consent cannot be withheld for more than six months. You must terminate all teaching contracts before your pension becomes payable.
